St Arnaud and district residents who would like to increase their knowledge and skills to help support people in their community doing it tough can attend a Talk the Talk workshop on Monday, December 15.
The workshop, hosted by Rural Financial Counselling Service in partnership with Grampians Community Health and Northern Grampians Shire Council, will be in the St Arnaud Town Hall community meeting room from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Mayor Karen Hyslop said the event was aimed at anyone with an investment in their rural community, such as agronomists, vets, contractors, financial service providers, field officers, health professionals or people who worked in the supply chain.
"We know that talking about mental health isn't always easy, especially when you are not sure what to say," she said.
"You might have noticed when a customer, client, friend or so on is not acting like themselves, but are unsure what to do about it, or how to broach a conversation.
"That's where 'Talk the Talk – Supporting Mental Health in Rural Communities' comes in. It is a practical workshop designed to equip rural service providers with the confidence and skills to have meaningful conversations about mental health."
