St Arnaud Town Hall kitchen refurbishment nearing completion

The refurbishment taking place in the kitchen of St Arnaud Town Hall is nearing completion, with the upgraded facility set to make life easier for approximately 20 different community groups who currently use it.

It is expected that the works to transform the kitchen into a commercial-like standard will be completed within the next two weeks, which will include a walk-in cool room, large combi oven, mobile stainless steel benches, new storage cabinets and heavy duty non-slip commercial vinyl flooring.

The previous kitchen, which had been installed almost 30 years ago, was sorely in need of an upgrade after water damage to the floors, damage and wear to the cabinetry as well as some of the older appliances had taken its toll.

The refurbishments are part of the St Arnaud Civic Precinct Development, which received $200,000 in funding from the Andrews Labor Government in 2018 and was bolstered by a further $100,000 from council.

Other future projects to be funded by this grant will include upgrades to the Queen Mary Gardens and Market Square.

Kara Kara Ward Councillor, Merrilee Reid said, "The kitchen facilities at the St Arnaud Town Hall have long been overdue for an upgrade, so it's very exciting to see the project nearing its completion."

"The refurbished kitchen will really empower our community groups to be able to fully utilise the town hall as a multipurpose events space."
