The Rushworth Streetscape Project works are progressing well. Footpath and kerb works on the western side of High Street between Bendigo Bank and the railway line have been completed this week.

Campaspe Shire Council, Director Infrastructure Kate Lemon said the site fencing in Stage 2 has been removed for pedestrian use and car parking over the Christmas and New Year break.

"We appreciate the patience of the Rushworth community, particularly the cooperation, understanding and patience from affected businesses and residents. We appreciate your support as the works are progressing.

"Contractor, Earthworks Civil & Construction will begin works on Stage 4 on Monday, 8 January, from the railway line to Moora Road on the west side of High Street.

"As seen in previous stages, temporary access paths will be installed to ensure the relevant sections of High Street, affected shopfronts and residential properties are still accessible.

"During Stage 4, there will be limited access to parking in affected zones of High Street. Parking on High Street, outside the affected zones will remain as normal and a few supplementary car parks have been identified adjacent to the railway line, as well as Max Maze.

"Throughout the works, we request that shop owners and employees park at the back of their shops, rather than in Max Maze and other carparks, to maximise availability for customers," Ms Lemon added.

The stages of the redevelopment have been updated based on the progress achieved to date and are now as follows:

  • Stage 1 – Footpath and kerb works on the western side of High Street from Wigg Street to Bendigo Bank – Complete.
  • Stage 2 – Footpath and kerb works on the western side of High Street from Bendigo Bank to the north side of the Railway Line – Complete.
