An all-star lineup is set to sparkle brighter than ever at this year's Baiada Carols in the Park, Tamworth Region's biggest free Christmas celebration.
On Saturday 13 December, Bicentennial Park will transform into a Christmas wonderland with music, lights and community cheer, as Tamworth Regional Council, supported by the Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music (The Con), present an unforgettable evening of entertainment for all ages.
Taking centre stage are some of Australia's finest talents spanning country, opera, blues, musical theatre and more, including two-time Golden Guitar winner Aleyce Simmonds, classically trained soprano Ashlee Woodgate, local favourite stage performer Brad Gill, and acclaimed Indigenous blues artist Buddy Knox.
They'll be joined by powerhouse jazz and swing vocalist Kate Armstrong, ARIA-nominated country rock icon Jayne Denham, screen and stage star Natacha Curnow, and Council's very own talent Peter Ross, ensuring a carols spectacular for the community.
Backing this incredible line-up is The Con's 30-piece community orchestra and community choir groups including Little Lyrics, Treble Rebels and Vocal Performance Ensemble, guaranteed to fill Bicentennial Park with all the heart-warming sounds of Christmas. Adding even more energy and sparkle will be performances from The Studio Dance and Tamworth Dance Studio.
The Tamworth Pipe Band and Tamworth Brass Band will get toes tapping and excitement building as they perform festive favourites before the main show begins.
"We have such an exciting line up with plenty of variety so there really is going to be something for everyone. It's going to be a fantastic community event, and we can't wait to see everyone down there," said Noelene Bosworth, Director Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music.
Beyond the stage, Bicentennial Park will come alive with twinkling lights, delicious food, and family fun. Pioneer's Parade and the Park's beautiful trees will transform into a glittering wonderland with festive light displays for all the photo-worthy moments.
Head to Mrs Claus' Kitchen where you'll find savoury delights, then follow your nose to Candy Cane Lane to satisfy cravings for sweet treats. The Christmas Market will be the perfect place to do a spot of Christmas shopping with an array of local finds and unique gift ideas.
Of course, no Christmas celebration would be complete without a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus. Be sure to grab a photo or catch the magical moment when Santa joins Tamworth Region Mayor Russell Webb to light up this year's Christmas Tree.
"It's events like these where memories are made so we have tried making sure there is something for everyone," Natasha Little, Tamworth Regional Council Events Officer said.
"Not only will there be food and market stalls, but we will also have Santa's Workshop sponsored by Partner Now for kid's craft activities as well as a sensory zone hosted by Uniting LAC where people can go to take a quiet moment for themselves," Natasha added.
The evening is presented by Baiada, who have selected Ronald McDonald House and Westpac Rescue Helicopter as the event charities. Purchasing a battery-operated candle and delicious sausage sizzle will help support these local causes.
