Graduate nurses and midwives are being encouraged to start their careers in Australia's largest and busiest public health system, by applying to the NSW Health GradStart program.
GradStart is a statewide recruitment program offering employment opportunities across more than 150 metropolitan, regional, rural and remote health facilities throughout NSW.
Applications for NSW Health's 2027 GradStart intake are now open and close on 29 June 2026. Students are eligible to apply if they:
- Are completing a nursing or midwifery degree between 1 June 2026 and 31 May 2027
- Will meet all the requirements to be registered as a nurse or midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Are an Australian Citizen or hold a visa that allows ongoing full-time employment in Australia.
Working in NSW Health offers graduate nurses and midwives a wide range of employment opportunities and experiences to support the beginning of their professional careers.
The GradStart program also offers opportunities to participate in the Metro Rural Exchange, allowing graduate nurses and midwives to gain experience across both metropolitan and rural setting over a 12-month period.
