Statement from Christian Brothers Oceania Province - Br Laidlaw

The Christian Brothers Oceania Province released the following statement after a Brother was sentenced on child sexual abuse matters today in a Victorian Court.

"To those who have suffered as a result of the offences committed against them, we extend to you our unreserved apology for what has occurred.

"That your trust was so grievously betrayed is a matter of both profound regret and sorrow.

"You should never have had to endure the pain and suffering you have undoubtedly faced as consequence of these terrible crimes.

"The Christian Brothers are committed to working to address the failures of the past and we encourage any person with any evidence of criminal conduct – no matter how long ago – to take that to their local Police or to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.

"Any person wishing to come forward seeking assistance in respect of abuse experienced at any of our facilities can do so through our Professional Standards Office which is able to provide expert help and services. It
