Statement From Minister Butler

Department of Health

Bedford has supported South Australians living with a disability and their families for more than 80 years.

The South Australian Government's intervention to support Bedford with a $15 million package was crucial in protecting the livelihoods of hundreds of South Australians living with a disability.

McGrathNicol, who were appointed as restructure advisors to Bedford throughout this process, have continued to uncover a very severe financial crisis.

Following careful consideration, the Commonwealth Government has agreed to provide $4.4 million to the South Australian Government to support the Bedford sales process.

Bedford, as a registered NDIS provider, has and continues to receive substantial Commonwealth funding.

The Commonwealth remains committed to working closely with the South Australian Government, the National Disability Insurance Agency, the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, and other stakeholders to ensure continuity of care and support for all affected participants.
