Statement from City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves:
The City of Ballarat is disappointed that the 2026 Jayco Herald Sun Tour will not be going ahead as planned in early 2026. It was going to be the first time the event had been based in one city. It also filled a vacant spot in the city's event calendar post-Christmas.
We understand from the Herald Sun that the current economic conditions made corporate sponsorship of the event more challenging. In addition, there had a been a four-year hiatus since the last Jayco Herald Sun Tour was held which effected general brand awareness of the event.
The City of Ballarat is confident that in the long-term, we will be able to secure another event in late January/early February given our enviable reputation for holding unique cultural and sporting events.
