The Director of Liquor Licensing under his statutory powers has issued decision notices in respect of four historic liquor applications made under the Liquor Act 1978.
· Endeavour Group's application for a Dan Murphy's has been approved on the basis of a site change and consultation with Indigenous groups – both key issues the Liquor Commission flagged in refusing the initial application.
The Director has imposed additional conditions of reduced trading hours (9pm closing) and that customers must identify where they intend to consume the alcohol.
· The Director approved the Pirlangimpi Indigenous Corporation for Community Development's application to reinstate takeaway alcohol on the grounds of strong community support, no real objections and that the sale of alcohol from the club will be significantly safer than the unsupervised allocation via the barge service.
· Little Cashy Pty Ltd and Dunstall Pty Ltd, trading as Gateway Select Wine, Beer and Spirits, received approval to transfer their licence from one shopfront to another in the Palmerston Gateway Shopping Centre. The initial application, which was refused by the Liquor Commission, requested the transfer from Gateway to Unit 3/130 University Parade, Durack.
· Coles has received approval for a liquor outlet at Palmerston Oasis Shopping Centre. The original application was for a Coles Liquorland in a shopfront vacated by Woolworths BWS. The Liquor Commission refused the application as there is already a Liquorland nearby and another store would not offer anything new for the community. Coles subsequently changed its application from a Liquorland to a Vintage Cellars store to provide a different product focus in line with the Liquor Commission's comments.
The Director has imposed additional conditions that prohibit a change in the outlet from Vintage Cellars to Liquorland; mandatory CCTV system to be installed and that customers must identify where they intend to consume the alcohol.

The decisions were made under the Director's powers and in accordance with Section 334(6)(a) of the Liquor Act 2019. Section 334(10) states that when making a determination or decision under this section, the Director must act independently and is not subject to direction from the Minister, the Chief Executive Officer or any other person.
