National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke by phone yesterday with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. Mr. Sullivan expressed the Biden Administration's appreciation for the strong U.S.-Austria relationship and commitment to restoring transatlantic ties. Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Kurz agreed to work together on common global challenges, including climate change, economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, and counterterrorism. They also discussed coordination on shared foreign policy priorities, including the Western Balkans and China, as well as opportunities to protect religious freedom worldwide.
