Statement on National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan's Phone Call with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Ahmad al-Nawaf al-Sabah

Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Jake Sullivan spoke with His Highness Ahmad al-Nawaf al-Sabah of Kuwait on August 11 to address the U.S.-Kuwait partnership and regional security. Mr. Sullivan congratulated Prime Minister al-Sabah on his appointment on behalf of President Biden and re-affirmed the enduring U.S. commitment to Kuwait. Together they discussed strengthening the U.S.-Kuwait relationship in light of the historic Jeddah Summit and the need to turn the UN-mediated truce in Yemen into a lasting settlement. Mr. Sullivan also thanked Kuwait for its generous humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people.
