Today I attended a meeting of the State Emergency Management Committee comprising of our Police, Fire and Emergency Services and all relevant Government agencies.
Yesterday we experienced extraordinarily difficult and dangerous conditions, and it is a great credit to our career and volunteer firefighters who worked tirelessly, responding to rapidly changing conditions, to keep fires contained.
As fires continue to burn across the state today, our thoughts and best wishes are with those communities affected and our dedicated firefighters.
It is important to follow the advice of the Tasmania Fire Service and the Parks and Wildlife Service. If you see a fire, report it immediately to 000.
