Staying Medicinewise during coronavirus pandemic

NPS MedicineWise is one of the many resources available to ADA members, part of the suite of medicines information including the PharmaAdvice service and a range of expert clinical advice on prescription and non-prescription medicines.

With COVID-19 meaning than people need to be even more aware of the medicines they are using, MedicineWise launched a hub where members of the public can check up on a range of medicines related questions such as "How to be medicinewise" which includes the following points:

- Know all the medicines you take and why you take them. Keeping an up-to-date medicines list is a great way to keep track of your medicines.

- Understand the instructions for taking your medicines. Medicines only work if you are taking them properly, and you can only take them properly if you understand the instructions.

- Check with your health professional before starting any new medicine. A health professional can help you balance the benefits of a medicine with any potential risks.

- Ask questions if there is anything you don't understand about your medicines. Seeking information from a trusted source can help you get the most out of your medicines, safely.

Dentists and other healthcare professionals are being encouraged to share this page with their patients, community groups and any health services with which they might be in contact.

ADA members can access the full range of medicines information available to them via the Membership Services section of the Member Home section of www.ada.org.au (member ID and password required)
