Stolen car charges, Burleigh

Three people have been charged after police tracked a stolen car from Ipswich to the Gold Coast overnight.

At about 8pm police sighted an allegedly stolen Subaru Liberty vehicle travelling westbound on the Logan Motorway at Carole Park. The vehicle continued to travel west before exiting the Warrego Highway at Tivoli and travelling along Francis Street and Mount Crosby Road before returning to the Warrego Highway travelling east.

The car was tracked travelling along the Logan and Pacific Motorways to the Gold Coast, taking the Tellebudgera Creek Road exit at 9.22pm. It travelled through residential streets in Elanora, Currumbin and Tugun before a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on Musgrave Avenue, Coolangatta at 9.50pm.

Police will allege the vehicle continued driving as the tyres deflated, colliding with three police vehicles. Three people in the car were arrested when it stopped at the intersection of West Burleigh Road and Gold Coast Highway at Burleigh Heads around 10pm.

A 21-year-old Northgate man was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, disqualified driving, false plates attached, fraud and stealing alternatively receiving stolen property. He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on April 5.

A 24-year-old Northgate woman was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of a dangerous drug, and fail to dispose of a syringe. She is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on April 5.

A 16-year-old Northgate girl was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in Southport Children's Court.

It will be further alleged the car was stolen from a Collingwood Park house on March 18.

Police are seeking information and dash-cam footage from anyone who witnessed the car.
