Stolen Vehicle Charges At Gold Coast 10 April

Police have charged a man following investigations into a stolen vehicle incident on the Gold Coast yesterday, 9 April.

It will be alleged around 8.30am, a white Audi Q5 was stolen from an address on Armstrong Way at Highland Park.

Police later observed the Audi travelling in company with a stolen white MG ZS through a number of suburbs including Nerang, Oxenford and Robina, with both vehicles being covertly tracked.

Around 5.50pm, the Audi was sighted in Oxenford and monitored by police, with assistance from POLAIR, as it continued travelling throughout the Gold Coast.

At approximately 9.45pm, a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on the Audi at Maudsland.

It will be alleged the vehicle continued along the Old Pacific Highway before coming to a stop just south of Kopps Road, where the driver exited the vehicle and fled into nearby bushland.

The man was arrested a short time later and taken into police custody.

A 21-year-old Oxenford man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, fraud - dishonestly make off without paying, wilful damage, and driving without a licence.

He is due to appear before Southport Magistrates Court today, 10 April.

The stolen MG ZS remains outstanding.

Investigations are ongoing.
