Stolen Vehicle Charges At Townsville 12 July

Police have charged three boys following several alleged incidents involving a stolen car last night, July 11.

It will be alleged police were conducting patrols near a shopping centre carpark on Hervey Range Road, Thuringowa Central around 11pm, when the police vehicle was deliberately struck by a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander.

Two officers inside the vehicle at the time of the crash were uninjured.

Around 15 minutes later, the same Outlander intentionally drove at another two police vehicles in Mundingburra, with both having to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

It will be further alleged around 11.30pm, the Outlander and a stolen Toyota Corolla, believed to be travelling in convoy, targeted another police vehicle in Vincent.

Police, including PolAir, tracked both vehicles, and a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed in Condon, stopping the Corolla.

The occupants of the Corolla then allegedly fled the scene in the Outlander.

The allegedly stolen Outlander was recovered damaged on Gorden Street, Garbutt around 12.45am this morning and three boys were taken into custody.

The Mitsubishi Outlander was allegedly stolen from Blue Wren Drive, Kelson on July 9.

The Toyota Corolla was allegedly stolen from Sturt Street, Townsville City on July 11.

A 13-year-old Kirwan boy, a 12-year-old Garbutt boy and a 12-year-old Deeragun boy have been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and are due before Townsville Childrens Court on July 12.

Investigations are ongoing.
