Dutton Park detectives have charged an 18-year-old man with 23 offences following investigations into a series of vehicle thefts from secure carparks in apartment buildings across Brisbane.
Between April 23 to May 27 motor vehicle offences were stolen in these residences across East Brisbane, Highgate Hill, West End, New Farm, Bowen Hills, and Kangaroo Point.
On May 12 it is alleged a man stealing an e-bike from Bell Street, Kangaroo Point, when he was disrupted by the owner, a 36-year-old Kangaroo Point man.
The man allegedly made threats towards the owner of the bike while armed before fleeing on foot towards Riverview Terrace.
No one was physically harmed during the incident.
On June 4, Dutton Park Criminal Investigation Branch and South Brisbane Tactical Crime Squad officers located a man in Woolloongabba and arrested him following a foot chase.
An 18-year-old Bracken Ridge man has been charged with multiple offences including six counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, four counts of stealing (motorcycle, scooter, e-bike and groceries), three counts of wilful damage, and one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence, common assault, and threatening violence.
He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 20.
