Stolen Vehicle Crash - Alice Springs

Police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle that was involved in a crash in Alice Springs overnight.

It was reported to police that around 8:25pm an unknown man unlawfully entered a home on Kurrajong Drive through an unlocked door and stole the occupant’s handbag, car keys and the grey coloured SU, Northern Territory Police sayV

It is believed the vehicle was involved in a drive-off from a service station on Gap Road around 9:05pm.

Police located the car driving on Gap Road and signalled the driver to stop.

The driver refused to comply with directions and a pursuit was engaged.

Police followed the car through the CBD and onto Schwartz Crescent and then Sadadeen Road where the offender failed to give way at Stott Terrace intersection and collided with an unmarked police vehicle.

No one was injured in the crash.

The offenders fled the scene in the vehicle and the pursuit was terminated shortly after.

The stolen vehicle was recovered today by police on crown land south of Alice Springs.

The offenders are described as being males of Indigenous appearance.
