Stolen vehicle evade, Logan district

A man and woman are assisting police with inquiries after an alleged stolen vehicle travelled at speed from Logan through Brisbane, back to the Gold Coast and across the border into News South Wales overnight, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged just before midnight police attempted to intercept a ute suspected of being stolen on Chambers Flat Road at Crestmead, however it drove away at speed.

The vehicle was monitored by POLAIR as it allegedly continued to travel at high speed through the Logan and south Brisbane areas.

It will be further alleged the ute eventually pulled into a service station on Bapaume Road, Tarragindi where the male driver filled the vehicle with fuel.

As a police vehicle attended the location the driver got back in the ute and rammed the police car with his vehicle before driving away along the Pacific Motorway.

POLAIR continued to track the ute as it travelled north through the Airport link and Clem 7 tunnels, with the occupants of the vehicle throwing a pair of jeans out the window.

The ute was then driven at speed southbound along the Gateway Motorway, onto the M1 and into New South Wales.

A 27-year-old man and 24-year-old woman were arrested in Pottsville and are currently assisting with inquiries.

Queensland Police continue to liaise with officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Service as investigations continue.
