Storm Clean-up Continues

City of Port Phillip
One of our largest seaweed clean-ups in decades is currently underway

Last week's storms and bad weather have dumped an estimated 800 tonnes of seaweed on Port Phillip shores.

The strong currents and large waves have pushed seaweed onto the shore, along with various organic and non-organic materials.

The Beach and Street Cleaning Team is working hard to remove the slowly decaying seaweed over the next few weeks.

Significant sand movement has occurred, with major works happening over the coming weeks to remove sand from footpaths.

Please take extra care on the beach for the next few weeks while the clean-up continues.

To report any hazardous waste on the beach, please request a clean-up on My Port Phillip or contact the ASSIST Team on 03 9209 6777.
