Many areas of the Ballarat municipality are still being cleaned and cleared of storm debris by council crews and contractors following the damaging storm on 29 October.
The southern section of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens is expected to reopen on the morning of Wednesday 17 November, however, the area to the north of the fernery will remain closed until the clean-up is complete.
There is still a little clean-up work to do in the North Gardens, but the site is safe to visit. There is still a minor damage at the back of the ladies' toilets off Zoo Drive which is expected to be repaired by the end of the week.
The Avenue of Honour clean-up has ramped up significantly, but many weeks of work remain ahead for the approximately 60 trees damaged. The road is safe, but be aware of traffic management in the coming weeks as works continue.
Arborist crews have completed most of the higher risk urgent works throughout the urban areas of the city, however, there are still several weeks of clearing fallen branches from parks and nature strips throughout the municipality.
The clean-up effort around Lake Wendouree is complete apart from some stumps to be removed.
Clean-up works have now also begun in Victoria Park. This may take two or three weeks to complete with many broken branches and several trees down across the entirety of the park.
