Strangulation, deprivation of liberty charges - Booval

Ipswich detectives have charged a man following an alleged assault of a woman in Booval last night.

Police will allege that a 29-year-old man held a 28-year-old woman against her will in a unit while subjecting her to physical and verbal abuse.

It will further be alleged the woman was strangled and beaten, sustaining physical injuries to her head, wrists and face.

Police attended and arrested a North Ipswich man at 6.30pm.

He has been charged with five offences including strangulation (domestic violence offence), assault occasioning bodily harm, deprivation of liberty and contravene a domestic violence order.

He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.

The woman was transported to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening physical injuries.
