NSW Police have established a strike force to investigate after a man was found dead and another remains in hospital in a critical condition under police guard, following a domestic-related incident in the state’s far west yesterday, NSW Police say.
About 1.30pm (Tuesday 20 October 2018), police were called to a property on Rufus River Road, about 70km west of Wentworth, and found a deceased 63-year-old man with a gunshot wound.
Another man, aged 55, raised the alarm. He was uninjured and initial inquiries reveal he was held against his will.
Just after 3pm, officers found a third man, aged 58, on the property also suffering a gunshot wound.
He was taken under police guard to Mildura Base Hospital in a critical condition, and later transferred to a hospital in Melbourne where he remains.
Officers from Barrier Police District and detectives from Victoria Police Homicide Squad are conducting a joint investigation after an 82-year-old woman’s body was discovered at a home in Red Cliffs, Victoria, about 12.30pm.
Strike Force Buralyang, comprising of officers from Barrier Police District, with the assistance of State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was travelling on Rufus River Road or Old Renmark Road, especially those who may have dash cam footage, to come forward.
All of those involved were known to each other.
Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
