Strike Force Kiewarra release CCTV over third shooting in Sydney's south

Strike Force Kiewarra detectives have released further CCTV footage of a third shooting as they continue their investigation into several public place shootings across Sydney's south

Just before 4am on Sunday 29 March 2020, emergency services were called to bushland off Heathcote Road at Lucas Heights, following reports of an injured man.

On arrival, officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command found a 30-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his legs.

He was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives established Strike Force Kiewarra to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, investigators have connected this incident to another shooting that occurred in Caringbah.

Just after 2am on Wednesday 1 April 2020, emergency services were called to a unit complex on Taren Point Road, following reports shots had been fired.

On arrival, officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command located a 26-year-old woman with minor injuries to her face and hands. She was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The other occupant of the property, a four-year-old girl, was not injured.

Following further inquiries, strike force investigators have now linked these shootings to another drive-by shooting in Bexley.

About 7.20am on Sunday 29 March 2020, police have been told a silver sedan pulled up alongside three men on Donnan Street, before the male driver fired several shots.

No one was injured.

Sutherland Shire Police Area Commander, Detective Superintendent Jason Box, said investigators have released further CCTV footage of a silver sedan in appeal for public assistance.

"We believe the driver of this vehicle could provide us with valuable information in this investigation," Det Supt Box said.

"We're also appealing for anyone who may have information to come forward and tell us what they know.

"These are very serious and brazen offences – wounding a man, shooting at a home and injuring another woman with a young child inside and firing shots at three men in broad daylight.

"The community will not tolerate this and neither do we. That's why we're calling on the public to help us take those responsible off our streets and put them before the courts."

Anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Kiewarra investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
