Structure fire at Tennant Creek 5 August

Northern Territory Fire Investigators are investigating a suspicious fire at the Tennant Creek High School overnight.

Just before 1am, Police responded to an audible alarm at the school, and on arrival observed smoke coming from the roof of a building.

Local fire crews arrived on scene and found a fire within a bathroom of one of the buildings. The fire had extinguished itself with fire and smoke damage contained to the one area.

The fire scene was secured and has since been subject to forensic analysis with Detectives from the Tennant Creek Investigation Unit called on duty to begin investigations.

Police will today conduct inquiries within the community, and urge anyone with information which may assist with the investigation to contact them on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
