NT Government

NT Fire and Rescue Service (NTFRS) crews from Darwin and Berrimah responded to a structure fire on Bishop Street in Woolner at about 3pm today.

Firefighters attended the scene to find smoke coming from the windows and doors of a structure. Crews entered the structure in breathing apparatus to determine the source of the smoke.

A plastic bottle manufacturing machine was identified on fire which was quickly extinguished. The structure was then ventilated until smoke dissipated from inside and it was determined safe to re-enter.

NT Police attended the scene. There were no reported injuries during the incident.

Fire investigators are now investigating to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Quotes attributed to Watch Commander Darwin Command, Craig Slack:

"I commend the quick response and actions of our crews who worked efficiently to extinguish the fire."

"Their rapid response ensured the fire was contained and extinguished before spreading to surrounding structures."
