Northern Territory Emergency Service has received reports the Stuart Highway is impassable due to flooding.

Stuart Highway is currently closed between Roper Highway and Three Ways, with the locations of flooding impacting:

· 2.5km North of Daly Waters intersection

· 20km North of Three Ways at Phillip Creek

Water is over the road at various other low-lying areas and is still rising.

The highway is expected to be closed until Monday 22 January 2024.

Incident Controller Paul Faustmann said "We are urging motorists to avoid the area and reconsider travel due to heavy rain and rising water over the road.

"Never drive into flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it."
