Study and Careers expo offers chance to change it up

Members of the Waitaha community will have an opportunity to talk with industry experts, discover what employers are looking for, and find out how to upskill for the future at a new study and careers expo in Ōtautahi Christchurch.

With a series of seminars and open access to conversations with industry and study experts, the inaugural Kia Hihiko Power Up Waitaha Canterbury Careers Advice and Study Expo is an opportunity to discover what employers are looking for and how to upskill for the future.

Seminars will be delivered by industry experts addressing frequently raised topics including:

  • Employer insights - what skills are needed now
  • Returning to study - what to do and how to make the most of it
  • How to change career direction
  • Starting your own business - support available and key considerations
  • Financial support for adult study
  • Growth sectors in Canterbury

Tertiary study experts from the University of Canterbury will facilitate conversations within the expo area, alongside experts from Ara Institute of Canterbury and Lincoln University.

Speakers include employer and industry representatives, careers advisors from the Tertiary Education Commission, and wellbeing and financial support services from the Ministry of Social Development and StudyLink.

Power Up: Waitaha Canterbury Careers Advice and Study Expo, brought together by ChristchurchNZ along with the University of Canterbury, Ara Institute of Canterbury and Lincoln University, will be held at the Christchurch Town Hall on Thursday, 3 June from 12.30pm to 5.30pm.
