Preliminary geotechnical works are happening in Clayton for the early planning and design for the Suburban Rail Loop.
The Clayton Activity Centre is Centre is earmarked for a Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) superhub station. The SRL will eventually connect every metropolitan train line from Cheltenham to Werribee. Stage one is Cheltenham to Box Hill, which also includes stations at Glen Waverley and Monash University (Clayton).
The Suburban Rail Loop Authority's geotechnical program involves drilling in areas near the proposed alignment for the south east section of Suburban Rail Loop to gain initial data and information about local ground conditions.
These works are on Royalty Street and Madeleine Road, Clayton and require temporary occupation of up to eight car parking spaces (on each street) for drilling works and support vehicles.
Pedestrian, road and driveway access will be maintained at all times and traffic controllers and signage will be in place to guide people around the work site.
There will be periods of medium level noise from the digging.
The works are from 7am to 5pm (Monday to Friday) and 7am to 1pm (Saturdays) and will take approximately two weeks (weather permitting).
