Sudan-born Man Charged With Visa Breaches In Victoria 3 June

A Sudan-born man is expected to face Melbourne Magistrate's Court today (3 June, 2025), charged with three offences, including the alleged failure to comply with his visa-mandated conditions.

The man, 32, was arrested by the AFP this morning and charged with:

• Two counts of failing to remain at a specified address, contrary to section 76C of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth). The maximum penalty for this offence is five years' imprisonment and/or a $99,000 fine; and

• One count of commit indictable offence whilst on bail, contrary to section 30B of the Bail Act 1977 (Vic). The maximum penalty for this offence is three months' imprisonment.
