Sudan-born Man Charged With Visa Breaches In Victoria 11 September

A Sudan-born man is set to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today (11 September, 2025) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated curfew conditions.

The AFP charged the man, 32, today (11 September, 2025), after he was located in Melbourne.

It will be alleged he breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa between 30 August, 2025 and 9 September 2025.

He has been charged with:  

  • 11 counts of failing to comply with visa curfew conditions, contrary to section 76C (1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth). This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and/or a $99,000 fine

  • 11 counts of committing indictable offences whilst on bail, contrary to section 30B of the Bail Act 1977 (Vic). This offence carries a maximum penalty of three months' imprisonment and/or a $6105.30 fine; and

  • 14 counts of contravening a conduct condition of bail, contrary to section 49F of the Summary Offences Act 1966 (Vic). This offence carries a maximum penalty of three months' imprisonment and/or a $6105.30 fine.
