Summer Done Differently set to grow tourism economy

NT Government

4 July 2023

The Territory Labor Government is committed to boosting the Northern Territory tourism sector, with the launch of the Summer Done Differently campaign, which aims to increase the tourism numbers in the off peak season.

The Northern Territory is different in every sense and Australians seeking to start their summer early this year are encouraged to look to the Northern Territory.

Launching today, the Summer Done Differently campaign aims to grow the visitor economy and drive demand in the low season, and to build confidence within the tourism industry to keep operating year round.

Targeting Australian travellers, the campaign inspires viewers to go where summer has already started this year and book a trip to the Territory between September 2023 and March 2024.

From today until the end of November, the campaign will run across TV, billboard, digital advertising, social media and newspapers nationally with a focus on Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Tourism NT has partnered with Australian airlines, online travel retailers and travel agents for the Summer Done Differently campaign.

Deals with campaign partners Webjet, Jetstar, Virgin, Expedia/Wotif, NT Now, Travello and Tripadvisor will deliver massive savings to consumers.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Nicole Manison:

"The Summer Done Differently campaign highlights that not only is the Territory a completely different place to visit, but you can get more bang for your buck and beat the crowds when you book an 'off peak' summer holiday.

We're supporting the tourism industry by encouraging visitation during traditionally quieter months, giving operators the confidence to stay open all year round.

Tourism creates well-paying jobs in every region of the Northern Territory, and its growth plays a crucial role in a $40 billion economy by 2030."
