Police Charge Woman After Vehicle Stop - Hunter Valley

A woman will face court next month charged following a vehicle stop in the Hunter Valley this morning.

About 9.10am (Monday 14 September 2026), Hunter Valley Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on the New England Highway, Muswellbrook, for roadside drug and alcohol testing.

The driver – a 49-year-old woman - underwent a roadside drug test that allegedly returned a positive result for methamphetamine. A secondary oral fluid sample was obtained and will undergo further analysis.

Following inquiries, officers searched the vehicle and allegedly located $500 cash, a glass pipe, and 56.6g of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

The driver was arrested and taken to Muswellbrook Police Station, where she was charged with possess prohibited drug and supply prohibited drug (greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity).

She was granted conditional bail to appear before Scone Local Court on Wednesday 14 October 2026.

The woman was also issued a 24-hour prohibition from driving notice.
