Support for our region's incredible carers at Mildura

Mildura Rural City Council is inviting carers from across the region to attend a series of special activities aimed at breaking down social isolation and improving connections within the community.

A movie screening, Cuppa and Chat and Chair Yoga are all part of the fun planned as part of a partnership between Council and Carers Victoria through the 'Connecting Carers in their Community' Grants Program.

The Victorian Government-funded program aims to support unpaid carers by providing more access to resources, reducing isolation and improving health and wellbeing.

Councillor for Community Development and Gender Equity Helen Healy highlighted the critical role carers play in the community.

"Carers are unsung heroes in our region, quietly and tirelessly looking after their loved ones or friends, sometimes in quite demanding situations.

"Due to these demands, it can often lead to feeling isolated and disconnected from their community.

"This is where programs like this are so important, providing the valuable resources to ensure our local carers have the support they need.

"It's also a great way for us to give back to our carers after all the support they provide.

"I highly encourage carers to come along and enjoy some time to themselves, connect with others and share their experiences with others in similar situations," Cr Healy said.

The activities will be held at libraries across the region and include:
