Support local businesses during essential roadworks

Sunshine Coast Council

The community is encouraged to continue supporting businesses along the Bulcock Beach Esplanade in Caloundra during upcoming roadworks which will deliver essential improvements to the area.

As part of the road reseal and rehabilitation program, The Esplanade from the Otranto Avenue intersection to the pedestrian crossing between La Promenade Café and Wung Nam Thai Water Palace Restaurant will be closed to vehicles from June 10-28.

Divisional councillor Tim Dwyer said new road pavement would strengthen the road structure, and a new bitumen surface would ensure a high-quality road for years to come.

"We know that roadworks around restaurants and retail stores can sometimes be off-putting to customers, but our local businesses rely on your patronage," Cr Dwyer said.

"Planning ahead and allowing more travel time will ensure your experience with our local businesses is positive during these important road works.

"Council appreciates these works can be an inconvenience and where possible, we will avoid planned work during peak holiday periods to minimise disruptions.

"Our Economic Development team is also on hand to provide advice and guidance to businesses on how best to mitigate the impact of roadworks."

A second stage of works, which will involve partial lane closure of The Esplanade between the Otranto Avenue intersection and 32 The Esplanade (Allamanda Place apartments) from July 29 to August 19 2019.

The Coastal Pathway along Maloja and Tay Avenues will be upgraded from July 15 to late September 2019.
