Support Red Shield Appeal

Will Hodgman,Premier

The Tasmanian Government is a strong supporter of the Salvation Army and the incredibly important work it does.

I'm pleased to announce that in the upcoming State Budget the Tasmanian Government will provide continued support to the Red Shield Appeal to support the Salvos with $30,000 each year for the next four years.

Throughout the month of May, I would encourage all Tasmanians to dig deep for the Red Shield Appeal so the Salvos can continue their important work supporting people in need around the state.

The Salvation Army has been serving our community for over 150 years, and supports Tasmanians through its many programs, including older Tasmanians, the homeless, and those escaping family violence.

Each week the Salvos help countless Australians, including 100,000 meals for the hungry; 2000 beds for homeless people; up to 8000 food vouchers; and counselling support to thousands. The Red Shield Appeal is an incredibly important fundraising opportunity for the organisation.
