ANZ and The Smith Family have expanded their partnership to deliver a series of free Scam Awareness Workshops across Australia, helping more Australians build the skills and confidence to identify, avoid and respond to scams.
The workshops bring together scam education and financial wellbeing support under a single program, providing practical information to help participants recognise common scam tactics, protect their personal and financial information, and how to access support during difficult times.
Available both online and in person, the one-hour sessions are free to attend and open to everyone, regardless of whether they are an ANZ customer.
The announcement builds on the success of ANZ's community scam education initiatives, which have reached more than 900 participants through 56 workshops delivered over the past 12 months. Survey results from participants show the workshops are making a meaningful difference:
98 per cent agreed they felt more confident in their ability to spot a scam after attending a scam education workshop.
98 per cent agreed they better understood how to protect themselves from scams.
96 per cent agreed they knew how to access support regarding scams.
97 per cent of financial wellbeing workshop participants said they would recommend the workshop to others.
ANZ Head of Social Impact Janet Liu said: "Scams continue to affect Australians from all walks of life. Through our partnership with The Smith Family, we're helping communities access practical information and tools that can strengthen their resilience against scams and support informed financial decision-making."
