The Albanese Labor Government will always back Australia's farmers and is investing more than $100 million in support for farmers and producers impacted by financial hardship through rural financial counselling.
The Government is today announcing Rural Financial Counselling Service providers who currently deliver support to farmers and producers through this program will continue to deliver services for another 5 years from 1 July 2027.
Through the program, the Government will award more than $100 million in grant funding to 10 providers across 12 regions.
Rural financial counsellors supported almost 7,500 farmers, fishers, foresters and small related businesses last financial year.
Already this financial year counsellors have assisted 3,581 farmers, fishers, foresters and small related businesses.
The Government's investment will provide farming, fishing, forestry and small related businesses with local access to rural financial counsellors, who can help them make lasting improvements to their financial circumstances and boost financial resilience.
Australian farmers, fishers, foresters and small related businesses experiencing, or at risk of financial hardship can receive free, confidential, and independent financial counselling for up to 3 years, or 4 years if receiving Farm Household Allowance.
The Albanese Labor Government has invested more than $1.4 billion in rural support and drought resilience measures to help farmers prepare for, adapt to, and recover from challenging conditions since July 2022.
The Government has practical support that is always available to ensure Australia's farmers and producers can access the support they need.
