Modern and up-to-date community infrastructure helps connect people to jobs, attracts new business and creates economic growth. That is why the federal government is supporting upgrades at thePrincess Louise Park Show Centre. Energy efficient lighting improvements will result in cost savings while a sprinkler system will provide greater long-term security for the facility.

Alaina Lockhart, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie and Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), joined Princess Louise Park Show Centre officials to make the announcement today.

The Princess Louise Park Show Centre is Eastern Canada's premier agricultural exhibition centre. Established in 1999, the Princess Louise Park Show Centre Inc. is a non-profit, agricultural exhibition facility that promotes animal showmanship, recreation and culture. It organizes numerous equine shows, and other special events for education, instruction and pleasure.

The Government of Canada is investing $25,168 through ACOA's Innovative Communities Fund for the project.

This investment builds on commitments made by the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic Provinces to drive economic growth in the region through the Atlantic Growth Strategy by helping the region's tourism industry attract more visitors and create new jobs across the region. This bold approach is in line with Canada's Tourism Vision, which seeks to make Canada a top-ten global tourism destination by 2025.

"The Government of Canada is making strategic investments that build on competitive regional advantages. Through ACOA, our government is proud to support projects like this one for the Princess Louise Park Show Centre that promote diversification, build vitality in communities and enhance the regional economy."

- The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA.

"The Princess Louise Park Show Centre has proven to be one of the Maritimes' most popular show and exhibition centres. The facility and its Board make a huge contribution to our local economy all year long. I am pleased that the Government of Canada is supporting these upgrades that will ensure the Centre continues to host amazing events well into the future."

- Alaina Lockhart, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie and Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal
