Supreme Court Gardens Revamp Starts with New Stage

  • Infrastructure upgrades to support wider range of events year-round at Supreme Court Gardens
  • Construction is underway on a new Supreme Court Gardens Lotterywest Community Stage
  • Improved amenities, accessibility and sustainability features will ensure long-term future of the gardens

Works are underway on a major upgrade of the Supreme Court Gardens event space, with the sod turned today on the new Supreme Court Gardens Lotterywest Community Stage.

The milestone marks the beginning of the Supreme Court Gardens event infrastructure upgrade, a City of Perth project designed to enhance the iconic gardens' role as a premier events destination while improving accessibility and amenity for the community.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the upgrade would deliver lasting benefits for both the community and Perth's events sector.

"Set along the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) within the world-class surrounds of Elizabeth Quay, Supreme Court Gardens is one of Perth's most loved public spaces," Mr Reynolds said.

"This investment will ensure the gardens continue to be a place where the community comes together for years to come, with upgrades that enable a wider range of events that are easier to access and deliver throughout the year.

"The addition of the permanent Lotterywest Community Stage will create more opportunities for performances and community activations, while the broader upgrades will make the space more sustainable and better equipped to host events year-round."

Lotterywest CEO Colin Smith said a Lotterywest grant of more than $1 million supported construction of the Community Stage.

"The Lotterywest Community Stage will help transform the Supreme Court Gardens into a vibrant, year round destination for community and cultural events," Mr Smith said.

"With its inclusive design and accessible features, the permanent stage will provide a welcoming space for everyone. The stage will support a wide range of activities such as lunch-time performances and community events, to bring people together in the heart of Perth's CBD."

In addition to enhanced event infrastructure, the project will deliver improved amenities, more accessible facilities and sustainability improvements to support the long-term sustainability of the gardens.

Construction will take place from February to October 2026, with works scheduled to be completed in time for the summer event season.
