Townsville police have charged multiple people with property crime offences following recent enforcement action.
Around 8.10pm, on 27 August, Townsville Tactical Crime Squad (TCS) where conducting high-visibility patrols and intercepted a Toyota Hilux on Woolcock Street in West End.
Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located 7.6 grams of methylamphetamine, two illegal firearms, ammunition and a large knife.
Police then executed a search warrant at the accommodation where the people were staying and located another eight grams of methylamphetamine.
Police charged a 27-year-old Blackwater man with seven offences including two counts of possess modified firearms and one count each of unlawful possession of weapons, possess knife, possess drug utensils, possess ammunition and possess dangerous drugs. He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on 20 October.
A 25-year-old Blackwater woman was charged with six offences including two counts of possess modified firearms and one count each of possess knife, possess drug utensils, possess ammunition and possess dangerous drugs. She is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on 20 October.
Police have charged a man and woman with unlawful use of a motor vehicle following an arrest in Aitkenvale on 30 August. Police will allege the pair stole a Volkswagen from Kingsway Place, Townsville City between 9.30pm on 18 August and 7.40am on 19 August.
Dog squad located and arrested the pair in Aitkenvale.
Detectives from the Townsville Property Crime Unit charged a 32-year-old Pimlico man with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving. He was remanded in custody and is due to re-appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on 9 September.
A 34-year-old Kirwan woman was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possess dangerous drugs. She is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on 12 September.
Three teenagers were charged with multiple property crime offences in Ayr last week. Police will allege a Toyota Rav4 was stolen from a residence in Twelfth Avenue, Home Hill between 1am and 5am on 28 August.
The vehicle was seen driving dangerously between Townsville and Ayr. Polair assisted in the location of three males in Ayr and TCS was deployed to assist local police. The vehicle was later abandoned in Ayr and the three offenders fled on foot.
TCS apprehended the 18-year-old male driver and Ayr police apprehended the other occupants of the vehicle, two males aged 15 and 16.
The 18-year-old Home Hill man was charged with eight offences including enter premises, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He was remanded in custody and is due to re-appear in Ayr Magistrates Court on 9 September.
The 15 and 16-year-old Home Hill boys was charged with stealing of a vehicle, enter dwelling and commit and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. They are due to appear in Ayr Childrens Court on 9 September.
Townsville District Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said community safety is the top priority for police.
"The results from the first few weeks of this enforcement show we're moving in the right direction, and we'll continue this action to protect the community and tackle serious offenders," Det Insp Shepherd said.
"We are continuing to adapt to the community's needs and our officers are working relentlessly to hold these repeat offenders accountable."
