Police continue to target property crime, domestic violence, bail non-compliance offences and conduct wanding operations across Townsville.
Since 9 August, police have arrested 1,413 offenders - 1,113 adults and 300 juveniles – on 4,159 charges, including property crime, drug and weapons offences.
Local police have conducted 2,356 bail checks and located 28 weapons from over 3,100 wandings as part of the high-visibility patrols.
Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said the wandings are keeping the community safe.
"Jack's Law allows police to use handheld metal detectors to scan people and their belongings to detect knives and other weapons in shopping centres, entertainment venues, the Safe Night Precinct, transport hubs and on public transport.
"We want to get the message out, if you are caught carrying a knife in a public place, you risk a large fine and/or a term of imprisonment.
"We have seen the devastating impacts from knife crime, including the lifelong trauma for victims, their families, and the community.
"When our officers are conducting wanding operations out in the community, they consistently receive positive feedback from members of the public.
"Our goal is to make the community safer and also feel safer," Detective Inspector Shepherd said.
