A scuba diver has died after being pulled unconscious from the water in the state's Hunter Region.
About 11am today (Saturday 8 November 2025), emergency services were called to Fly Point, Nelson Bay, following reports a diver was in trouble.
Officers attached to Marine Area Command, Port Stephens-Hunter Police District and Raptor Squad attended.
The diver – a woman believed to be aged in her 50s - was pulled from the water unresponsive and was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene.
She was taken to Tomaree Community Hospital in a critical condition; however, she died on the way to hospital.
The woman is yet to be formally identified.
Police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
