Suspicious fire Mount Barker, South Australia

Police are investigating a fire at a business in Mount Barker this evening.

Just before 6pm Thursday 26 December police and fire crews were called to Knott Street after reports of a fire at the rear of a business.

Fire crews are still battling the blaze which has reportedly caused major damage to a tyre store.

Although the investigation is in its early stages, police believe the fire may have been deliberately lit.

Police are asking anyone who saw suspicious behavior in the area around the time of the fire to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report on line at www.crimestopperssa.com.au

The fire is causing smoke to drift across Mt Barker and surrounding communities. Residents and motorists are advised to remain indoors and close all doors and windows until the smoke has passed.
