Police are investigating a number of suspicious grass fires between Giru and Alligator Creek on Tuesday, 9 September.
Initial investigations indicate between 1.45pm and 3pm, an unknown suspect was travelling along the Bruce Highway, north of Giru and intentionally started four fires.
The fires were located:
- Southern side of the Haughton River Bridge, Bruce Highway, Giru
- 5 km north of the Bruce Highway and Cromarty Siding Road intersection, Cromarty
- Intersection of the Bruce Highway and Cape Cleveland Road, Mount Elliot
- Intersection of Tindall Court and Bruce Highway, Alligator Creek
Police are appealing to anyone with relevant information or dashcam vision to contact police.
