The Allan Labor Government is continuing to deliver regional Victorians world-class care closer to home - with construction powering ahead on the second stage of the major redevelopment at Swan Hill District Health.
Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne today announced the latest milestone on the new multi-storey community health facility, with the foundations laid and the facility's structure now emerging above ground.
Delivering more space for mental health services, consulting rooms and modern workspaces for health care workers, the facility will give more locals access to the care and support they need, close to home.
On track for completion next year, it will also feature a bright and modern reception area, a new cafeteria and lounge area creating a welcoming and purpose-built environment for patients and staff.
The project is the second and final stage of the $65.7 million redevelopment at Swan Hill District Health - jointly funded by the Allan Labor Government with an investment of $35.7 million and the Albanese Labor Government contributing $30 million.
The first stage of the project delivered a new and expanded emergency department, which more than doubled the amount of treatment spaces. The new emergency department includes a four-bed short-stay unit, an isolation room and a behavioural assessment room.
Designed in consultation with hospital staff and the community, both stages of this project will ensure Swan Hill District Health can continue to meet the region's growing healthcare needs both now and into the future.
In addition to the redevelopment, Swan Hill District Health has also received more than $7 million through Victorian Labor Government grant programs, including the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund and Medical Equipment Replacement Program, for upgrades and equipment.
