Sydney Writers Festival returns to Hills in 2021

Sydney Writers Festival is back this April with a series of virtual webinars featuring prominent authors.

The all Aussie line-up includes award winning author of Tiddas, Anita Heiss, author of The Secret River, Kate Grenville and author of The Chase, Candice Fox.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne is encouraging Hills residents to book their place.

"The Sydney writer's Festival is one of the largest literary events in NSW and we are very excited to be participating once again," Mayor Byrne said.

"We have a series of free events on offer as part of the Festival in a convenient online format so you can enjoy an author talk from the comfort of your own home.

"I encourage avid booklovers and casual readers alike to tune in to one, or all, of our upcoming virtual webinars," Mayor Byrne added.

Kate Grenville

Celebrated writer Kate Grenville (The Secret River, The Idea of Perfection) discusses her latest novel, A Room Made of Leaves, which draws on the life of Elizabeth Macarthur (wife of the notorious wool baron John Macarthur).

Anita Heiss

Anita Heiss, award - winning author of Tiddas (currently being adapted for the stage) and Barbed Wire and Cherry Blossoms, discusses her latest novel, Bila Yarrudhanggalangdhuray, an engrossing portrayal of love, loss and belonging on Wiradjuri country.

Candice Fox

Candice Fox discusses her latest novel, The Chase, an electrifying cat - and - mouse thriller set in the Nevada Desert after a mass prison breakout lets loose 650 of the country's most dangerous prisoners.
