Symposium Aims to Boost Decent Work in Women's Sports

The International Labour Organization (ILO), together with the Swiss Government, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the Centre for Sport and Human Rights, will host a high-level symposium on Decent Work and Responsible Event Hosting in Women's Sport on 16 July at ILO headquarters in Geneva.

The event coincides with the UEFA Women's EURO 2025, being held in Switzerland, and will bring together governments, employers' and workers' organizations, football and sport associations, professional women's leagues, players' unions, event organizers and civil society.

Participants will explore how working conditions in women's sport are evolving, with a focus on risks in major competitions, the growth of professional leagues and ways to foster fair, safe and supportive environments for all involved.

Panels will examine lessons learned from organizing the Women's EURO 2025, advances in labour standards and employment practices in women's leagues, and measures to tackle violence and harassment in sport. The event will highlight practices and strategies to promote decent work and responsible event hosting across women's sport.
