Take your kids on a Story Seat Book-venture

Sunshine Coast Council Libraries are hosting a series of events at the region's award winning Story Seat creations, for parents, caregivers and children under 5 to enjoy.

Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said there was lots of fun to be had at the Story Seat Book-ventures.

"It's a great chance for kids and their caregivers to have some fun, there will be games, storytelling and songs, to help promote the First 5 Forever program," Cr McKay said

"The Story Seat project was launched to help engage people who may not traditionally visit the library in a positive way, and encourage them to be proactive in the development of their child's early literacy skills.

"There are 10 Story Seats located in popular parks across the Sunshine Coast, each seat features artwork from well-known Australian children's picture book titles.

"There are a number of these events planned throughout the year, so grab a picnic blanket and join the library team at a Story Seat Book-venture in a park near you."

If you can't make it to a Story Seat Book-venture event, don't worry, families are also encouraged to grab a map and head off on their own adventure to find all 10 Story Seats.

Take a picture with the seats and share your experience on social media using the #storyseat hashtag.

Visit council's library website for all the details and download the Story Seat map.
