Taking a cooperative approach to major events in Victoria Park

The Ballarat Dog Obedience Club has access to Victoria Park year-round for its seasonal events.

When major events are booked into this shared community space, Council promptly contacts the local user groups to see how the events can either co-exist or assist with relocation options.

Where possible Council looks to schedule events around existing user group activities. However this is not always possible, and stakeholders are contacted immediately if this is the case.

Council encourages user groups to take a cooperative approach with other users when major events which will provide significant economic impact to Ballarat are planned for this public space. This is similar, for example, to local football teams having to make alternative arrangements for training and playing when AFL comes to Ballarat and Mars Stadium is used for such major event activity.

The impending $5 million capital works project for Victoria Park are set to increase the appeal of this public open space for both community groups and events.
